R D S Yadava's work spans disordered systems, semiconductor materials, microsensors, and intelligent sensing architectures, with a consistent emphasis on connecting physical theory to device behavior. He has contributed to the physics and design of SAW and MEMS/NEMS sensors, electronic nose systems, and sensor signal processing, introducing data-driven approaches to material selection, noise control, and sensitivity enhancement. In addition, he has contributed to the physics and technology of HgCdTe infrared sensor materials and devices, and radiation blistering in metals and alloys.

His research interests include disorder-driven transport and noise, fractals and percolation, nonlinear dynamics, and stochastic resonance, with applications to semiconductor devices and chemical sensing platforms. A recurring theme in his work is the constructive role of noise, nonlinearity, and coupling—through mechanisms such as stochastic resonance, synchronization, and parametric excitation—in extending sensor performance beyond conventional limits. These ideas have also been applied to soft-matter and microswimmer systems, where elastohydrodynamic interactions and dynamic symmetry breaking enable efficient propulsion and control.

He remains actively engaged in research, teaching, and scholarly writing.
